The resilience of Integrity: The Journey of Eric Azibataram
The Foundations of Otuogidi
The journey of Eric Azibataram, a native of the Otuogidi community in the Ogbia Local Government Area, is rooted in a strong family legacy. Guided by the values of his father, Eric Ibobiri, and his mothers, Theresa Ekpobodo and Peace Agbori, Eric developed a character that refused to compromise. This was tested during his 300-level academic year when a group of peers attempted to recruit him into illegal financial fraud. Despite the allure of "fast money" and being labeled an "enemy" for his refusal, Eric remained true to his upbringing. While those individuals eventually faced mass arrests, Eric maintained his focus on an honest future.
The Trial at Amarata
Professional development led Eric to Amarata, Yenagoa, for Industrial Training (IT) at St. Peter’s Hospital. This period was marked by intense civil unrest following the killing of a police officer. The area became a zone of mass arrests and frequent tear gas deployment. During one such incident, the chemical exposure was so severe it nearly resulted in blindness and total respiratory distress. Despite the danger and the irony of a student fearing the authorities more than the criminals, Eric refused to flee, choosing instead to stay in Amarata and fulfill his training obligations.
Professional Mentorship
Under the professional guidance of Dei Godslove, a Medical Laboratory Technician at St. Peter’s Hospital, Eric mastered the technical skills of the laboratory. The mentorship provided by Dei Godslove offered a professional sanctuary amidst the external chaos of Yenagoa, allowing Eric to complete all internship requirements with excellence.
The Final Hurdle
The return journey to school for the IT defense was nearly thwarted by a severe storm that threatened to block all travel. Through sheer persistence and a refusal to let the weather derail his hard-earned progress, Eric reached his destination just in time. The defense was conducted successfully, representing a major academic victory over both the elements and the social unrest of the region.
The Graduation Horizon
As of February 2026, Eric is rounding up his final year (400 level). With graduation approaching in August 2026, he is preparing for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC). His objective for the service year is to pivot toward meaningful personal development, specifically focusing on design and content creation, ensuring a future built on the same principles of integrity instilled in him by mr Eric Ibobiri, Theresa Ekpobodo, and Peace Agbori.
